The Purpose

Why the free slave? Because I need to begin at that paradox.

Jesus’s invitation to follow him required a choice. Romans 10:9-10 says that “if we confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in our hearts that God raised him from the dead we will be saved.”

I believe He is raised, and I confess He is Lord.

Kyle Idleman writes in Not A Fan, “You can’t call Jesus Lord without declaring yourself as his slave.”

A truth worth pondering.

There is a new reality with my confession. I am set free, and yet have become his bond-servant. His slave by my choice. Released from the bondage of sin and death and set securely in His kingom.

So, as this free slave, who am I?
